Phone to phone · laptop to phone
Hand a file to the device next to you.
Any file up to 10 MB – a photo, a PDF, a ticket, a zip. Two quick scans pair the devices, then the file goes straight from one to the other. No upload, no account.
Receiving on a phone? The camera app works too: point it at the sender’s code and open the link. On a computer you can also drop a file anywhere on this page.
How it works
-
The sender shows a code.
It holds only what the two devices need to find each other: a few addresses and keys. No file.
-
The receiver answers with its own.
The sending device reads the reply with its camera. That is the whole pairing – two scans, a few seconds.
-
The file goes across directly.
Directly and encrypted, checked with SHA-256 on arrival. After that, either side can send more without scanning again.
What leaves your device
Only the file, and only to the device you paired with, encrypted on the way. The page is static and the codes carry the connection details. One public STUN server (Cloudflare’s) tells each device its address on the internet, so that devices on different networks can reach each other; that address goes into the code. The file never passes through a server.
Not on the same Wi-Fi?
The devices can often still reach each other directly. When a network keeps them apart – guest Wi-Fi and mobile carriers often do – put both on one phone’s hotspot, or send a small file (up to 2 MB) as an animated QR code, which needs no network at all.
Good to know
Guest and public Wi-Fi often stop devices from reaching each other. The sender needs a camera to read the reply; the receiver decides what to keep, and nothing is saved until it taps Save.
